Photojournalism Assignment (Mrs.Lopez)

Make a blog post about about observing your subject. What are some of your ideas for the photo shoot?

When i was observing Mrs.Lopez I learned a lot about what what she does. Mr.Lopez is a data processor , she helps create the master schedule for every single student going to this school (cor classes and electives). She puts every student in a class with a teacher, there are 140 teachers at Austin High! Mrs.Lopez also helps with schedule changes, helps teachers with grade books (exports grade into the report cards and sends them out). She also organizes lockers, helps students/ teachers with grades and makes sure there are no technical mistakes (she makes sure that everything is perfect). Mrs.Lopez also runs a lot of different reports such as absences, tardy s, grade scheduling and enrollment. She also help students coming from alternative schools and lets their teachers know more about them (grades wise).

        Activities
  • phone calls
  • meets with other people working in the office
  • does a lot of work on the computer
  • helped kid with grades (technical error)
  • helped a lady that worked in the office learn how to do something on the computer
  • very organized does a lot of work for the school
  • phone calls with parents

Ideas I have for the photo shoot...
  • Mrs.Lopez talking on the phone
  • Mrs.Lopez doing something on the computer
  • Mrs.Lopez talking with another person

Photographic Story (FSA)

This picture shows that someone has died. A lot of people are coming to the grave to mourn. It looks like a lot of people are sad and crying. There is a American flag next to the grave so the person that dies might have been in the army. In the picture you can also see that a lot of people are there so the person was obviously very loved and respected.

In this picture one the sides of the photo I can see a bunch of thread so you can tell that it was a factory. I can also see that there is a woman sitting in between the rows of thread so she more than likely worked at the factory. I can also see that there is something that looks like machinery underneath where she is standing and more than likely is a sewing machine. This photo shows that a woman was working in a factory where they made clothes and other items.

In this picture I see that there is a kid that looks like he is in a house of some sort. His clothes look sort of dirty so he might be a slave or something. He looks sad or angry so he might not like what he is doing or what people are making him do. This is a very emotional picture that really makes me want to know the full story because I only know bits and pieces.

6 Thematic Photos

Inline image 2 The theme in this picture is pattern and filling the frame. In this picture all the lines going in two directions making squares in the middle it makes a pattern. In this picture the subject is taking up the entire frame of the photo so it is filling the frame. When I edited this photo I added some contrast and brightness.

Inline image 6 The theme in this picture is rule of thirds. In this picture the plant is in one third of the photo so is following the rule of thirds. When I edited this picture I made deceased the brightness because the water glared too much.

Inline image 3 The theme in this photo is composition. In this photo the main subject is placed directly in the center of the photo so it is using composition. When I edited this photo in increased the contrast, brightness, and the saturation.

Inline image 8 The theme in this photo is lines. In this photo all the boats are going the same direction which makes the photo have lines. When I edited this photo I increased the brightness and the contrast.

Inline image 4 The theme in this photo is also lines and filling the frame. In this photo you can see the bars of the bench all going one direction so it creates lines in the photo. In this photo the main subject is taking up the entire frame so it is filling the frame. When I edited this photo in increased the contrast.

Inline image 1 The theme in this picture is filling the frame and lines. In this picture the wood is going one direction so it is creating lines in the photo. In this picture the wood is in the entire frame of the photo so it is filling the frame. When I edited this photo decreased the saturation to make it black and white and I increased the contrast and brightness.

Assignment 1

This photo is an example of a picture where the photographer uses straight lines. Straight lines make your eyes wander and really make you take a closer look at the photograph.

This photo is an example of a picture where the photographer uses curved lines. Just like straight lines curved lines also make your eyes wander and make you take a closer look at the photo. Lines are a common tool that photographers uses to make their photos interesting.

Portraits

Inline image 2  This is one of my favorite pictures because I felt that her expression was very similar to the original photo. I also really like how she doesn't look happy or sad but she still has an expression on her face it isn't just a blank stare. The process of taking this photo was I had to find a wall that was all one color. Then I had to make sure Kayla was facing the right direction and also make sure that her hands were in the same position as in the picture. Once I edited it I had to make the picture black and white and then I had to color the wall in the back a grayish blue. I also had to make sure that it had enough contrast so the photo didn't look too edited.

Inline image 1 This is another one of my favorite photos because even though the picture is in black and white I really like the color. I also really like how she is positioned and how she isn't looking into the camera. The process of taking the photo was I had to find stairs and make sure that Kayla was positioned just like the girl was in the original photo. When I edited I had to make the photo black and white and I also had to adjust the blacks, contrast, and the brightness.

Inline image 3 This is another one of my favorite photos because even though it is a simple photo there is still so much to look at. I also really like how he isn't looking directly at the camera and I also like how he looks sort of mad. The process of taking this photo was I had to find a darkish colored floor and a place where I could be looking down at him because in the original picture it was taken looking down. I also had to make sure that he looked just like the boy in the original photo with the way he was positioned and his facial expression. When i Edited this photo I had to darken the floor a little bit I also had to make his jacket blue. I also had to increase the contrast and the brightness.

Picture Reviews

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhm47wQOTg9p2RPEd73ekrEC1ao2u_uSyYxR2eHG69z9bm2d_b1SDLWcg83J11WreKBYVx7qLY0vvyuBqvpJ3RWfVjJAMzAYVCdRG4IZfaOW6GzntJ1X7JCiX5t-PuPrfOivCBPlPCoULja/s640/Portraiture-Photography-By-Famous-Photographers-04.jpg                    I really like this picture because it is very simple but there a lot of things that make this photo stick out. The little girl is very bright and you can see all of the details like her bright eyes and her pale skin, I think that it makes the photo very bold. I also really like how in some parts of her hair it looks black as well as blonde so the background makes her hair blend in, in a way. I also really like that her shirt and her eyes go together (color wise) the lighting of the camera made it appeal to the eye even more. One thing that i don't like about this photo is that you can't see her neck it is just black so it looks like she has no neck and it just blends in with the background not in a good way.I also really like how her hair is messy and this photo doesn't look like she got all dressed up for it, it just looks very natural which I like. I also like how her hand is supporting her head because she looks young and she was probably bored and tired so she put her hand there and so this photo is very honest and doesn't seem like they were making her do certain poses.

I really like this photo because there is so much going on and there are so many things that you can look at. I really like how the water in the very back of the picture is really dark blue compared to the water in the middle which is a lighter blue. I also really like how vibrant the photo is. Another thing I really like is that about two thirds of the picture is very still and nothing is going on that you can see. In the other third of the photo there are what looks like two boats and you can see the water that is coming out from behind them which is cool because the rest of the photo is still. I also like how most of this photo is clear but in the back there is some land and it looks foggy. I like that this photo is vertical because if it was horizontal then you wouldn't be able to see the ocean in the back which is a big factor in this photo. I also really like how all the colors go together very well and that even though there is a lot going on in this photo most of the color are the same where if there were a lot of different colors this photo might have been to busy so I think it is just right.

I really like this photo one of the biggest reasons that i like it is because it is underwater. I really like how everything is so blue but then the yellow cloth in the middle makes it really eye catching. It is a somewhat simple photo but there is also a lot going on. I also like how you can see the plants or coral at the bottom of the picture it just makes it even more interesting. I also really like how the sun is shining down through the water onto the bottom of the ocean. I also really like how you can see some bubbles on the right side of the picture. I also really like the pose that this girl is doing and how the cloth spread out in the water. I also really like how her hair is going upward into the cloth. I also like how the picture is vertical because you are able to see the top of the water and what is at the bottom. I also like how the girl is in the middle because I think it looks the best opposed to if they were using the rule of thirds. I also think that her skin tone looks very good with everything else in the picture because everything else is light colored so I think it looks good.
